My hd bombed this weekend – I want to install Win98 on a brand new disk.
I upgraded from Win95 to Win 98 with the upgrade cd (I still have
this…) and I remember reading somewhere the instructions on how to get
an OEM type full install of Win98 from the upgrade disk. Can anyone
help me on this please ?
Thanks
Peter

If you are talking about installing Win98 full, by using a win98 UPGRADE cd,
you can simply put the CD in and run the setup and it will want to see your
WIN95 CD, it will prompt you for it, take out the win98, put in the win95,
it will read it, then it will continue on with the install, at which point
you want to slide the win98 cd back into the drive instead of the win95.
Done.

The right way to do this is simply have your win95 CD or first floppy
ready and you will be prompted to insert the disk to prove ownership. I
won’t go into the cheat method here.

did you try a sys c: from the command prompt? This might fool the install
into thinking 98 was already installed.

Thanks – I don’t need the cheat as I have the 95 OEM CD.
